What is MQL Lock?
MQL Lock is a licensing and account-lock service by 4x Engineer for MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5 Expert Advisors. EA sellers add their clients' MT4/MT5 account numbers in a web panel, and the EA runs only on those accounts.
MQL Lock is 4x Engineer’s licensing service for MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5 Expert Advisors. EA sellers add their clients’ MT4/MT5 account numbers in a web panel, and the EA runs only on those accounts. On any other account the EA shows “You are not allowed.” and removes itself from the chart.
Who it is for
MQL Lock is for people who sell or distribute their own Expert Advisor and want to control which client accounts it runs on.
Sell your own MT4/MT5 EA and let it run only on the accounts of the clients you add in the panel.
Give your clients an EA and decide which of their accounts it runs on, from a start date to an end date.
Deliver the EA file to a client and still control the accounts it runs on, without sending a new build for every change.
How it works
Four steps, all done in the 4x Engineer user panel.
Upload your EA source file (MQL4 or MQL5). The website adds the MQL Lock locking code to it and gives the file back.
Add each client’s MT4/MT5 account number with a start date and an end date, and choose which of your EAs may run on it.
Compile the returned file and send the EA to your clients. They enable “Allow DLL imports” in MetaTrader; no WebRequest URL is needed.
See each client account’s name, balance, profits and currency, change its dates, or remove it to stop the EA at its next check.
Features
Every MQL Lock plan includes all of these features.
The EA runs only on the MT4/MT5 account numbers you add in the panel.
Manage up to 50 MT4/MT5 accounts in total, across all your EAs, and up to 5 EAs.
Set a start date and an end date for each account. Before the start date and after the end date the EA does not run on that account.
Remove an account from the panel and the EA stops on it at its next check. The locking code checks every 5 minutes.
On any account that is not in your panel, the EA shows “You are not allowed.” and removes itself from the chart.
When a client attaches the EA to a chart, the EA license management panel shows that account’s name, balance, today’s, weekly and monthly profit, and account currency.
For every client account, pick which of your EAs may run on it.
The server address is built into the locking code through a DLL, so your clients add no URL to MetaTrader’s WebRequest list. The EA needs “Allow DLL imports” enabled.
Works with Expert Advisors for MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5: upload the MQL4 or MQL5 source file.
Comparison
Some sellers write their clients’ account numbers directly into the EA code. This is how that compares with managing the accounts in MQL Lock.
| Task | MQL Lock | Hardcoding account numbers inside the EA |
|---|---|---|
| Add or remove a client | Add or remove the account number in the panel | Edit the code, recompile and resend the file |
| Expiry dates | A start date and an end date per account, changed in the panel | Written into the code; every change needs a new build and a new file |
| Stopping a client | Remove the account; the EA stops at its next check (every 5 minutes) | Not possible for a file the client already has |
| Visibility of client accounts | Account name, balance, today’s, weekly and monthly profit, and currency in the panel | None |

Yes. Remove the client's account from the panel. The locking code checks every 5 minutes, so the EA stops on that account at its next check.
Yes. Set a start date and an end date for each account. Before the start date and after the end date the EA does not run on that account.
Each seller can manage up to 50 MT4/MT5 accounts in total, across all EAs, and up to 5 EAs. For more accounts, ask about the Enterprise Plan.
Yes. MQL Lock works with Expert Advisors for MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5: upload the MQL4 or MQL5 source file of your EA in the user panel.
When a client attaches the EA to a chart, the panel shows for that account: account name, balance, today's profit, weekly profit, monthly profit and account currency.
A locked EA sends the account number, the EA ID, the account name, the balance, today's profit, weekly profit, monthly profit and the account currency. Sellers should inform their clients that this data is sent.
Your clients do not add any URL to MetaTrader's WebRequest list: the server address is built into the locking code through a DLL. The EA needs "Allow DLL imports" enabled in MetaTrader.
When your MQL Lock plan expires, the EA stops on all of your client accounts.
Yes. To add the locking code, you upload your EA source file (MQL4 or MQL5) in the user panel. The website adds the MQL Lock locking code to it and gives the file back, and you compile and distribute the EA yourself.
